For people with limited mobility Ottobock develops medical technology applications and fitting solutions in the departments of Prosthetics, Orthotics, Mobility Solutions (wheelchairs and rehabilitation aids) and Medical Care. With five movable fingers, the bebionic hand offers the technical preconditions for 14 gripping patterns. With the digital nature of our work and recreational environments increasing, the ability to position the index finger on its own is key as this allows the use of PC keyboards, for example. Myoelectric prostheses such as the BeBionic will soon achieve full advantage with pattern recognition capabilities. This will enable many more muscle patterns to be recorded in future than before.
In the C-Leg 4, a patented method facilitates the transition between stance and swing phase. Plus, the user no longer needs to pay attention to a minimum forefoot load. The damping of the stance phase extension automatically adjusts to the optimal setting for the user in real time. For standing, there is also the option to choose between Intuitive Stance, where the C-Leg 4 recognises that the user is standing and responds immediately with high damping, and Manual Stance.
Agilium Freestep 2.0
As an ankle-foot orthosis, the Agilium Freestep 2.0 does not restrict the knee but instead makes use of the forces generated when weight is placed on it. When a load is placed on the footplate, the weight is absorbed by it and transferred to the lateral metal rods via the foot stirrup and ankle joint. The medialising force that is generated during this process counteracts the varus and relieves the affected knee compartment.
